Updating the Website and Growing a Bit
Alright, I got tired of WordPress bullying me with the pop-ups and such telling me I should update my WordPress software to version 3.0.3, so I just clicked ‘upgrade’ yesterday to shut them up, ha ha. Well, just as I had feared, my site crashed after the upgrade, and nothing worked. My website was blank, and my admin panel did not function either.
So I had to do what I hate doing…work, and I had to go into the sql and turn all of the plug-ins off manually, then log into the admin panel, and turn them back on one at a time until the site crashed again, so I could figure out which plug-in did not like the new version of WordPress. I ran about 15 plug-ins on my website, and the last two on the list did not work.
The one plug-in I can live without. I do not even remember what it was now, but the second one…it is my photo album plug-in for Gallery2. I need that!
Well, they do not have an update as of yet, so I am bumming. But I did manage to write my own code and make my own sidebar widget for randomly displaying images from my photo-albums. It works nicely too! But I do not want to code anymore, so I simply put external links to my albums on the photo album page, and they open in a new window for now. I will continue to watch for an upgrade so I can re-install the full functionality for merging my website with my Gallery2 photo-albums, but for now, it’s external links.
Now that I have spent the majority of the morning messing with the website and coding, maybe I can get on with the plans I had originally for the day.
